Advocating for a Permanent 43 Division Presence at Scarborough Town Centre. We strongly supports establishing a permanent 43 Division police presence at Scarborough Town Centre (STC) through the proposed S.C.O.P.E. Hub.
STC, Toronto’s busiest commercial and transit hub, welcomes 22 million visitors annually and houses 250 stores, civic services, and transit terminals. Though it covers just 1.7% of 43 Division’s area, it accounts for over 15% of reported thefts, frauds, and major crimes. Since 2020, incidents have surged 136.9%, nearly double the division average.
Project Scarborough Town Centre shows consistent on-site policing reduces offences by 47.5% and calls for service by 35.3%. A permanent S.C.O.P.E. Hub would improve response times, deter crime, and strengthen community relationships—supporting public safety, well-being, and economic growth
