SBA Strategic Plan: Build Scarborough 2026–2029

The Scarborough Youth Bridge to Employment (SYBE) program empowers young adults with the skills, experience, and confidence they need to succeed in the workforce. SYBE is a 10-week program combining employment readiness workshops, hands-on projects, and coaching to prepare youth for meaningful, sustainable jobs.

By blending real-world experience with structured support, SYBE helps youth build resilience, professional discipline, and long-term employability—while strengthening connections between local businesses and the next generation of talent.

SBA’s members are the heart of our organization. Over the next three years, we will focus on engaging and expanding our membership through tiered benefits, workshops, networking events, and communications that highlight member successes. By cultivating a strong, active membership base, SBA will strengthen Scarborough’s business network and provide greater opportunities for collaboration and growth

To help businesses and community leaders thrive, SBA will continue hosting After-5 Networking Events, industry-specific mixers, and leadership workshops. Mentorship programs will link experienced entrepreneurs with emerging business owners, fostering knowledge sharing, professional growth, and stronger business relationships across Scarborough.
 

SBA is establishing a Business Improvement Area (BIA) in the location identified by our University of Toronto student research team as having the greatest potential for economic growth and community impact. This BIA will strengthen local business districts, attract investment, and create meaningful opportunities for employment and collaboration. By improving streetscapes, supporting local marketing initiatives, and fostering partnerships among businesses and community organizations, the BIA will ensure Scarborough’s business corridors are vibrant, safe, and full of opportunity for both entrepreneurs and residents.
