Board Positions Available
There are three (3) Director positions open for election at this year’s AMM.
To ensure a well-rounded and effective governance team, the Nominating Committee is particularly seeking candidates with experience or credentials in one or more of the following areas:
Qualifications & Competencies:Effective board members contribute to strategic direction, policy oversight, financial review, and governance while holding staff accountable.

To be eligible to serve as a Director-at-Large on the SBA Board o Directors, candidates must:
Time Commitment:
SBA Board members typically dedicate 2–4 hours per month for board activities. Quarterly meetings are held usually on weeknights via Zoom for up to 2 hours. Members are expected to review briefing materials in advance. Some roles may require occasional engagement during business hours.
Compensation:
Board positions are volunteer. Members may be reimbursed for pre-approved expenses related to board duties.
To ensure a strong slate of candidates, the SBA Nominating Committee may identify and nominate candidates in addition to those submitted by members. Nomination by the Committee allows a candidate to enter the evaluation process but does not constitute an endorsement. The Committee reviews all nominations to recommend candidates best suited to meet the SBA’s governance needs, based on skills, experience, and understanding of board duties.
After nominations close, the Committee will interview a short list of candidates and provide its recommendations to the membership at least 14 days before the Annual Meeting.

Deadline: 4:00 PM EST on Monday, November 21, 2025
As per the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, elections will be conducted at the Annual Meeting of Members.
Please note: Nominations from the floor will not be accepted.

The Scarborough Business Association (SBA) invites members in good standing who are interested in contributing to the growth and governance of our organization to submit their nomination for election to the Board of Directors.
All nomination packages must be submitted no later than 4:00 PM EST on November 21, 2025.
To ensure a diverse and well-qualified slate of candidates, the SBA Nominating Committee may also identify and encourage additional nominations beyond those submitted by members.
Please note that a nomination by the Nominating Committee allows a candidate to enter the evaluation process but does not constitute an endorsement. The Committee’s role is to assess all eligible nominees and make recommendations that best meet the current and future governance needs of the SBA.
Following the close of nominations, the Nominating Committee will:
All nominees will be notified of the Committee’s recommendations at least 14 days prior to the AGM and before the recommendations are shared publicly with the membership.
