SBA president challenges others to match the contribution

(For immediate release)

Front-line hospital workers are golden in Scarborough and the Scarborough Business Association (SBA) knows it.

The Scarborough Business Association is hosting the presentation of 300 meals to front-line workers at three Scarborough hospital campuses. Ruwan Jayakody, philanthropic owner of the Grand Cinnamon Banquet and Convention Hall is catering the meals.

“We’re so glad so many Scarborough businesses have stepped up and helped the Scarborough Health Network staff in their critical goal of helping the community. It was important to the SBA and Grand Cinnamon to make a contribution too,” said SBA president Andrea Hazell.

Hospital staff make sacrifices many of us can’t imagine during these days of disruption and Hazell challenges all others to match or exceed the SBA’s contribution. “Do everything you possibly can. We are nowhere without these essential life givers.“

Three SBA presentations will be made:
• Centenary Hospital (Margaret Birch Wing) 2867 Ellesmere Rd. – Friday May 15 (11:30am)
• Scarborough General Hospital (Receiving Dept.) 3050 Lawrence Ave. E. – Wed. May 20 (11:30am)
• Birchmount Campus (Receiving Dept.) 3030 Birchmount Rd. – Wed. May 20 (12:30am)

Raptors Superfan Nav Bhatia will be joining the presentation at Centenary Hospital- in his first visit to Scarborough!

The SBA is not encouraging the public to attend.

The presentation is part of the SBA Covid-19 response program supporting businesses. Also included in the program is a weekly webinar Cyber Breakfast series featuring political, community leaders as well as business recovery discussions and experts. You will find more information here.
